Regarding the introduction of updated form of work books

11.08.2021

The Cabinet of Ministers approved a resolution on the beginning of the use of updated work books, which will be used as of January 1, 2023.

It should be noted that the old work books will not lose their force, employees and employers will also be able to use them. The old-style forms and inserts stored with employers will also be valid.

The Ministry of Finance of the Russian Federation will determine the procedure for the production of new work books, and will also address issues related to providing employers with updated  documents.

The new form of the work book, the procedure for maintaining and storing it were approved by the order of the Ministry of Labor of the Russian Federation dated May 19, 2021 "On approving the form, procedure for maintaining and storing work books". The form of the employment record has practically not changed – the title page now indicates that the seal of the organization is put if it is available. But at the same time, the volume of the work book and the ratio of sheets for the sections "Information about work" and "Information about awarding" have been changed.

The new instruction on the maintenance and storage of work books comes into force on September 1. Some outdated provisions were excluded from it, namely:

• the requirement to fill out the work book in the presence of an employee who is hired for the first time
• familiarization of the employee with new records in the labor register under the signature. Entries in the book are allowed to be made using a printer or in the form of a stamp impression
